Connected by traditions in culture and food. Photographer @RAHIREZVANI met the ‘Penne Nere’ in #Italy.

Once a year, the Alpinis - Italian veterans from the Alps - come together in the mountain village Forcella di Pala Barzana. Armed only with an iPhone, photographer Rahi Rezvani documented the deeper connection that these ‘penne nere’ (black feathers) have with their region and each other.

Eat, drink, remember

During Raduno Alpino, the Alpinis leave their work and family obligations behind, put on their traditional eagle-feathered Alpini hats and come together. They reunite to eat, drink, to remember those that fell during two world wars, and to celebrate the Alpini values of friendship and solidarity.
