Why is it that the community table is dominating the spotlight in hotels, restaurants and bars?

Several new concepts are rather succesful in transcending the boundaries between business and leisure, and even between people themselves.

Be part of it

It’s the year 2015 and eating with a stranger is hipper than ever before. So how do we explain the current trend? Has our need for contact increased so much in recent years as to justify sitting next to anyone we can? Not exactly, according to catering furniture designers and trend watchers. People now go out to eat for the total experience not necessarily just for what they get on their plate or in their glass. People want to be part of a community even when (and maybe especially when) they’re checking their mail, fading the line between a catering space used purely for consumption, and a catering space with the added functions of being a social and hybrid meeting place.
