The amount of local breweries is growing worldwide. In the US, it’s growing rapidly indeed. But it’s not just brewers. Boutique butchers, coffee bars and cheese shops, young brewers, coffee roasters and butchers are making an impression. These artisanal entrepreneurs give us a glimpse of the new economy. To them, product quality equals life quality.

Take for instance Chef Ryan Farr. He owns a butcher shop and restaurant in San Francisco, 4505 Meats . He teaches group workshops on how to dress a pig for 350 dollars a head. A workshop in sausage making will set you back 250 dollars. Participants get to sample roasted pork and take home either 15 pounds of pork or 6 pounds of freshly made sausages.
