Companies are paying increasing attention to the health and vitality of their employees. Health and vitality enhances work performance and reduces costly absenteeism.

Therefore, companies are gradually providing gyms, healthier food in work cafeterias, daycare facilities and laundry services to promote healthy lifestyles.

But does caring for your employees’ health and vitality really work? Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believe that it does. Research shows that for every dollar invested in promoting healthy activities such as sports, balanced eating and preventive care employers will, within two to five years, receive three to six times as much in return.

"One of the keys to creating good physical health is to first improve the happiness of the employee", says Shawn Achor, CEO of the corporate strategy firm Good Think Inc. and author of the book, The Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology That Fuel Success and Performance at Work. Achor: “Research shows that when employees have a positive mindset, they participate more easily with a healthy eating plan and sports programs."
